How To Practice Self-Care During The Pandemic

Finding it hard to stay productive during this outbreak? Or feeling extra negative, exhausted, and unmotivated lately? These are actually signs of burnout, and here's what to do about it.

Over the past year, we’ve all experienced a drastic shift in our life as COVID-19 hit us. We’ve (hesitantly) let go of our old routine and now settling into what seems to be our new normal.

Constantly being bombarded with endless information regarding this pandemic on the news and social media platforms can be overwhelming for many, but this response you’re feeling is entirely normal. However, it is vital to not be harsh on yourself and give yourself the extra self-care your body deserves.

Too often, we let our everyday life priorities consume us, leaving us very little time to pamper ourselves.

So ask yourself: When was the last time you gave your body the self-care it needed?
Here are some simple tips you can follow to help your body recharge and rejuvenate!

#1 Meditate

The act of mindfulness meditation is a good habit to practice doing as part of your self-care routine as it keeps anxiety and stress away, putting your minds at ease. Meditation can be practiced even in the comfort of your own home, not to mention, it’s as simple and convenient as pulling out a yoga mat. To elevate your space, you can also light up a candle before you begin to create a much more relaxed surrounding.

Fun fact: Did you know glazing at a candle’s flame can help you attain total relaxation? In the beginning, you may find it hard to focus and your eyes might start to turn watery but once you get used to it, you will be able to achieve a pure state of calm sensation. Words can’t do it justice, so light up a candle and experience it for yourself!

Light It Up & Meditate

Are you aware that the aroma of Eucalyptus can promote feelings of relaxation?

Derived from a fast-growing evergreen tree native to Australia, Eucalyptus offers many topical and aromatic health benefits. It is one of the powerhouses in the aromatic universe that has the ability to not only smell good and promote calmness but also bring various medicinal benefits when it comes to immunity, mental clarity, headaches, as well as stress relief. Research has also shown that Eucalyptus is a natural anti-inflammatory agent that can decrease mucus which can be perfect to combat cold symptoms such as nasal congestion.

Need some recommendations to put you in a calm state of mind during your meditation?

The Eucalyptus Candle by ORIQUE is a multi-functional candle rich in pure essential oils and has the ability to kill 22 types of airborne bacteria with its antibacterial and air-purifying properties creating a serene and clean environment. This must-have candle is made out of 100% soy and beeswax that can also be used as a moisturizer on your skin. Isn’t that incredible?

#2 Unplug From Technology

If there’s a word to describe the era we live in, digitalization would be it. These days due to the pandemic, most of us are stuck at home glued to our smartphones or tablets and never really take much of a break from them (or at all, in many cases). When you take time off those digital devices, it allows more opportunity to deepen connections with others in real life as well as giving ourselves time off from the chaotic internet world.

Finding it hard to stay away from the screens? Take this time to rediscover your old hobbies or even pick up new ones, be it cooking, baking, reading a book, or even spending quality time with your family from the comfort of your own home.

#3 Eat Good, Feel Good

You may be thinking, why do I have to eat healthily to feel good? Well, our body relies heavily on the types of food we consume which can affect one’s health, mind, body, and wellbeing altogether. The weekend bottle of wine, the snacks in your work/home pantry, the instant food, lack of exercise, are all habits that come with side effects such as getting ill easily, risks of having high cholesterol, diabetes, and more. These poor habits can also be the biggest culprit behind your body feeling lethargic and sluggish.

Maintaining good health and a strong immune system especially during this pandemic is crucial. A great tip is to limit empty calories and opt for food that is rich in nutrients and antioxidants which are largely found in fruits and vegetables.
